Introducing "A Coffee Family", a farming co-op born in the heart of Colombia, with the aim of bringing economic and environmentally sustainable coffee to the world.
A Coffee Family reached out to us after seeing one of our previous farmer spotlights, stating:
"Soulful Coffee Roasters' commitment to quality and Direct Trade in Honduras is amazing! We love to connect with people with whom we share a similar mindset, and we believe your company is one of them! "
About A Coffee Family
A Coffee Family is a group of coffee farmers and exporters based in Colombia. Growing coffee since 1936, they have involved over 53 families in the production, processing, and drying of their coffees.
A Coffee Family certainly lives up to their name, as they've prioritized the familial aspect of doing business through their holistic sustainability program, considering family, ecosystem, and customer to create successful long-term partnerships.
January's Coffee of the Month: Red Bourbon de Colombia
This coffee's cherries are grown in Finca La Playita. Production is free of pesticides and is a product of soil conservation practices.
This coffee is transported a very short distance to A Coffee Family's processing station in Huila as part of their "La Union Project" where they work hand in hand with local families.
This red bourbon coffee has a distinct apricot note to it, which settles nicely into a sweet nectar as it cools. This is a feature the unique processing method that is used for this coffee: a honey process with a pre-fermentation in vinyl bags for 100 hours, then it continues to be processed, drying slowly with the sun.
