About Me

Hi, my name's Jason.  I fell in love with coffee while living in New Orleans in the early-mid 90s.  It started as a consumption habit and spending days and nights in any one of the many coffee houses around the city.  A few years later, while living in Athens, Georgia, I typed 'coffee chemistry' into a search engine and two hours later bought a roaster, green coffee beans and started home roasting.  Years later, following my retirement from the Navy (where I drank a great deal of coffee - if you want to call it that), I had a 'nudge' following an early morning prayer session and started Soulful Coffee Roasters in 2018.  I've been so fortunate to have had mentors and benefactors who have guided me and continue to encourage my coffee passion.  I love to roast and talk about coffee with anyone, so come on by!
